Kyle Busch Is Virtually Unstoppable

By Jared Turner 5 Lessons Learned at Indy Kyle Busch Is Virtually Unstoppable With four wins in the past five races, Kyle Busch is head and shoulders above the competition right now in the Sprint Cup Series. Will he remain there? Maybe not, but considering he had never won at Indianapolis and did on Sunday, it’s a good sign that his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing team has found some serious magic under the hood. Or, heck, maybe it’s that the driver nicknamed “Rowdy” is just really enjoying this parenting thing. After all, all four of his wins have come since wife…

Dale Jr. Is No Fan of Indianapolis Motor Speedway

By Jared Turner Struggling with the handling of his No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet all day, Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished a dismal 22nd in the Brickyard 400 after spinning late in the race following contact of his own making with Hendrick teammate Kasey Kahne. For some reason, NASCAR’s 12-time most popular driver just can’t seem to get his arms wrapped around what it takes to run well at the Brickyard, a place where his Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have enjoyed tremendous success in combining for nine wins. Junior has just one top-five finish – a fourth-place result in…

Close, But No Lobster: Earnhardt Jr. Not Satisfied with Top-Fives

By Aaron Burns Dale Earnhardt Jr. did something on Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway that he’s done on many occasions throughout this season: he finished in the top five. Earnhardt’s fifth-place finish in the 5-Hour Energy 301 marked the veteran Hendrick Motorsports driver’s 10th top-five in 19 races, and the eighth top-five of his career at NHMS. It’s an impressive mark, but it’s also a dubious one: Earnhardt now owns the record for most top-fives at New Hampshire without a victory. He had a chance to win on Sunday, but Earnhardt – who had fresher tires than the cars in front…

Musical Chairs: The Race to the Chase Adds Drama Once Again

By Jerry Bonkowski It’s time for NASCAR’s yearly installment of musical chairs – otherwise known as “the Race to the Chase.” A number of drivers have to significantly pick up the tempo in the next seven races, lest they miss the biggest dance of the year, the Chase for the Sprint Cup. With that in mind, we’ve borrowed from Bristol Motor Speedway’s tradition of drivers picking songs to be introduced to (and potentially inspired by) before each of that track’s two annual Cup races – and have given each of them a song that speaks to their waning Chase chances. We’ve already conceded…
