Indiana native Ryan Newman scored his first victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, taking advantage of a pit stop glitch by Jimmie Johnson. For Newman it was his first opportunity to kiss the bricks and he did so from the pole position.
Kyle Busch was the newest driver to kiss the bricks, leading 92 of 100 laps Saturday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, to win the Nationwide race. Busch won from the pole and gave Toyota its first NASCAR win at Indianapolis and second ever at the track.
Austin Dillon won in what was labelled NASCAR's return to dirt. On Wednesday, the Camping World Series race was hosted by Eldora Speedway, which happens to be owned by Tony Stewart. The last time one of NASCAR's top touring series competed on dirt was Sept. 30, 1970, whenRichard Petty won a Sprint Cup -- called the Grand National Division at that time -- race at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. In other news, Ken Schrader become the oldest pole winner in a NASCAR series. The 58-year-old Schrader won the pole and a qualifying heat race at Eldora.
